About Us

We communicate and model high expectations for all students, which includes empathizing and valuing multiple pathways for students after high school (i.e., college, workforce, military) and collaborating with students to identify personal interests, aptitudes, and strengths to establish goals for the future. We believe that all students deserve to have access to a conducive learning environment and relevant and rigorous coursework, including Dual Enrollment opportunities — with Germanna Community College and Shenandoah University — and opportunities to earn credentials and engage in robust work-based learning experiences.

Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) — pursuant to 8VAC20-12-160 of the Code of Virginia — enrich student knowledge through co-curricular instruction, personal and civic development, applied project-based learning, and real-world application. Fredericksburg City Public Schools has partnered with the following CTSO groups:

  • The first 22 competencies of each Career and Technical Education (CTE) course are Workplace Readiness Skills. Each course is categorized in a program area (teacher-centered) and a career cluster or pathway (student-centered).

The CTE Pathways Guide highlights recommended high school CTE courses, sequential electives, credentials, and work-based learning experiences by career clusters and pathways at Fredericksburg City Public Schools. The courses listed in each career cluster and pathway may be available to multiple grade levels.

Walker-Grant Middle School offers CTE courses in:
